The National part of the development company for the new Wärby Resort in Bara

Together with Peab and Ästad Vingård, The National is joining a joint development company planning to create a new resort in Bara, Svedala Municipality. With a strong focus on local produce, spa experiences, and proximity to the beautiful Skåne countryside, the Wärby Resort is now taking shape.

The new resort will be developed on the site of the historic Spångholmsgården, right next to The National. The property has unique characteristics that will contribute charm and character to the new design. For The National, the project is of high strategic interest as it will strengthen its customer offerings while creating synergies and future opportunities for joint operations in hotels, restaurants, and activities.

“We currently operate two top-class golf courses, a golf hotel with 40 beds, a restaurant and golf shop, as well as one of Sweden’s best training facilities. Being part of a growing resort will make The National a complete destination, built on several strong operational pillars,” says Jonas Edberg, CEO of The National.

The National will have a seat on the board of the new development company and will participate in the project group driving the resort initiative, forming part of a broader destination for attractive experiences. Construction of Wärby Resort is planned to begin in 2025, with completion targeted for 2027. The detailed planning process will be conducted in several phases. In the first stage, the focus will be on the new resort, while future stages will involve developing infrastructure and buildings for a full destination in the surrounding area.
